NEW SUPPORT WORKER FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS
Suffolk Coastal’s voluntary and community organizations have gained a new boost—Karen Lawson has been appointed through funding from the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).
Karen is the Voluntary & Community Sector Development Co-ordinator, as is based with the Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations (SAVO).
The aim of this new role is to identify voluntary and community groups in the District and their needs in order to provide better support and information.
“We know that we have a committed, hard-working and successful voluntary sector in our District, but is also clear...they need more help to develop. The LSP and SAVO hope that Karen will play a vital part in helping groups to grow and be better informed about developments so that they are able to continue their excellent work throughout our District” said Cllr Herring.
“I am really excited about this new role as there is so much already happening in Coastal and the potential for so much more” says Karen. Karen who has a degree & background in community development, including managing community development projects in Suffolk and Africa, has been appointed to work 2 days a week– Tuesdays & Thursdays.
I am available to come out to visit your organization, chat with you about issues, concerns and needs that you may have and help put together an action / training plan to help and am keen to assist groups to work together.
