We are a network of voluntary and public sector organisations that provide services for front-line voluntary and community organisations. If you are a volunteer or worker within the sector and need to access a range of local support, the SCRN can offer this within Suffolk Coastal.
The key objectives for the SCRN are to:
Facilitate and support the production of a plan for every Parish to identify needs and solutions
Develop the community & voluntary sector to deliver key service outlines
Co-ordinate the support for the community and voluntary sector from key agencies
Increase the participation of Suffolk Coastal citizens in informal and formal volunteering
Development Officer
As Suffolk Coastal does not have a dedicated Council for Voluntary Service or Forum, as for example Waveney or Ipswich do, the Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations are working with the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership to provide a dedicated Development Officer in the District. Karen Lawson works on Tuesdays and Thursdays (from SAVO), offering one-to-one support, advice and signposting for the voluntary and community sector. Karen can help with constitutions, fundraising, training and offer support for the many things that are involved in running a voluntary or community organisation.
Events, Projects, Funding Surgeries
You can book onto one of the regular free funding surgeries that happen in the district, which offers a dedicated hour of support for funding advice and much more. Look out for details of these surgeries within Coastal, plus training courses and conferences in the shared Event Calendar.
Another current project is to promote Parish Plans within the district. This is led by Sunila Osborne at Suffolk ACRE. Contact her at: 01473 242500.
