FundingBuilding Community Capacity for People with Mental Health Needs

Purpose of funding

A limited sum of money has been identified within the mental health capital budget allocation which is being made available for organisations delivering mental health services to bid for funds which are able to demonstrate and promote:

  • Personalisation
  • Service user led activity
  • Increasing service efficiency
  • Building Community Capacity in local areas

The bids should meet the Suffolk County Council capital expenditure criteria:

  • Should be for a minimum of £6000 but could be comprised of lower cost assets adding up to this sum
  • For an asset which is evident beyond 1 year.

The maximum available is £100,000 and bids with an upper limit of £20,000 are invited but individual bids in excess of this will be considered if exceptional outcomes can be demonstrated. Applications which have matched funding will be looked at more favourably.

Applicants will be organisations who are working to promote service user choice in their mental health provision.

Process and timescale

Please submit your application electronically by Friday February 4th 2011 to Lucie.Payne@suffolk.gov.uk

All bids will be considered by a panel comprising of representatives from Suffolk County Council, the Voluntary sector and service user representation.

On Monday February 14th the Panel will consider the paperwork bids.

Please can all organisations submitting bids keep Monday 21st February free so that they are able, if invited, to ‘pitch’ their proposal to the Panel. Funds will need to be allocated within this financial year.
